This weeks Local Review is gonna kick off with a special artist that not only sticks to his roots but has started a scene here as well with Konkrete Jungle. His name is Dustin but most of Knoxville knows him as Solanum. Always coming at you with dark, fast beats with cinematic like tones that bring you deeper into his Jungle/Drum&Bass fueled sets (Along with other electronic genres).
My outlook on Drum&Bass has always been picky and selective, but Solanum brings you these fast songs full of pleasing and powerful change-ups that keep you wanting more. He explores a lot of what Jungle and Drum&Bass have to offer from screaming fast paced beats to almost calm and inviting sounds that still manage to stay in the same genre. In my opinion (Esp. in DnB) I think it is key to be able to take that, seemingly limited, genre and make it sound opposite of what everyone is expecting to hear. Tha,t to me, is an unmistakable sign of talent. I think this mix I have for you today will satisfy many of you and hopefully gain new Drum&Bass fans and Electronic fans in general.
Not only can you find him him at shows all around Knoxville but he is also find him soon in a Biography on the North American Drum & Bass scene called The American Jungle. Alot more things to come from him in the future like original productions in 2012.
